Camacho’s Famous Brings Chicago-Style Pizzas, Sandwiches and More to Exit 11

Camacho’s Famous is an authentic pizzeria in every sense of the word. Old school cool neon beer signs line the exposed brick walls. A nice sized bar top offers plenty of seating, with Camacho’s Famous boasting a nicely varied beer selection, and enough TVs to enjoy the sports of the season. I was excited to see what all the hype was about, since this was my very first time ever trying some legit Chicago-style deep-dish. To say I was impressed just doesn’t do it justice. Every aspect of our dining experience, from the superior service to the incredible pizza, was excellent all the way through.

Now, before I say another thing, let me state for potential guests that want to enjoy the deep-dish wonders that Camacho’s Famous has to offer, perfection takes time. Camacho’s is not a fast-food experience by any stretch, nor is it intended to be. This is clearly stated on the menu, particularly if you are there to try the deep-dish or stuffed crust pizzas that Camacho’s Famous is quickly earning a renowned reputation for. If you’re looking to spend some time with friends and family, have a couple beers, watch the game and relax in a great atmosphere with delicious, homemade pizzas, then look no further. Camacho’s Famous is the place to be.

Pizza this delicious is well worth the wait, and snacking on some of the hand-breaded mozzarella sticks, with Camacho’s house marinara, was the perfect antidote to curb our hunger. When the pie hit the table, my kids and I just sat in awe for a minute because it really was that magnificent. I mean, now I can fully appreciate the reason why some people call it a pie. That’s exactly what we got, a stunning pizza pie that was almost too pretty to eat. A towering, buttery crust, fresh from the oven, loaded with gooey mozzarella, then smothered in the house marinara and spicy pepperonis. This pizza was divinity on the plate, with cheese that stretched for a mile with each bite. But the true star of this dinner show was Camacho’s Famous signature pizza crust. Loaded with notes of garlic and butter, harboring a crispness that I still can’t get over, the crust was superb, an experience in and of itself. It’s safe to say we will be heading back for a repeat visit very soon.

My only regret is that I opted for the pepperoni deep-dish, for the sake of my kid’s picky palates, and though it was amazing, I wish I would have went a bit bolder and ordered one of Camacho’s signature pizzas, like their Da Meats pie or the Old Joe’s Supreme. This mistake won’t be made twice.

Camacho’s Famous has a great menu selection, with not only the deep-dish pizzas, but also thin or stuffed crust available. A nice array of appetizers, sandwiches and hot dogs offers plenty of variety for those in the mood for something different. I know I mentioned it earlier, but it’s well worth noting again that we were graced with stellar service from the beginning of our visit to the end. From the warm greeting from the hostess to the fantastic service from our server Reese, who was kind, knowledgeable on all aspects of the menu, and just did a great job overall, to the busser that pre-bussed our table, each associate that we encountered offered a top-notch level of service.

Camacho’s Famous is open from 5pm-9pm, Monday-Saturday. They are closed on Sundays. Check out their full menu on Facebook. Camacho’s Famous is located at 1021 Hwy 76 in Clarksville.
